Vernelle was born November 12, 1931 in Harlem NY to the late James and Vernelle Benjamin. The family relocated to Richmond, VA where she lived the remaining years of her life.
She was a graduate of Maggie L. Walker High School. She attended the Medical College of Virginia from where she retired after 25 years of dedicated service as a pediatric licensed practical nurse. She absolutely loved caring for people,
